Guest Post & Giveaway - Top Ten Gifts To Pamper Your Pets This Christmas by Hannah Coates - #CuteChristmas

Daisy with a Christmas Bone
Christmas is a very special time of year for pet-lovers. It’s the moment when you get to say, ‘I love you,’ to your pets in all sorts of silly, poochy-smoochy ways – and no one dares raise their eyebrows at you. It’s also a day when you finally get to reward your furry companions for 365 exhausting days of lap-kneading, treat-begging, garden-digging, invisible-fly-catching, and other golden opportunities for Vine or Youtube fame.

While researching what to splurge my hard-earned cash on this Christmas, I came across some amazing ideas for pet gifts, and I’d like to share them with you.

I don’t want to single out particular products, as it might sound like an endorsement of that brand. So I’m going to tell you in general terms what kind of glittery, sparkly pet gift items I found on sale out there this Christmas. And you can marvel with me at the ingenuity of some pet-loving manufacturers.

CATS

1. Adventurers and Acrobats
I found a huge range of these gifts, some incredibly elaborate and inventive – all aboard the cat ship, anyone? Most include scratching posts, which every cat-owner knows is a must, but hammocks, jangly balls on elastic strings, feathers and even tunnels may also feature.

2.In and Out
Intelligent cat flaps activated by a collar device that prevents next door’s philandering tom cat creeping in after dark. If your cat looks unimpressed, team this gift with a cat treat advent calendar. Seriously, they exist.

3. Ahoy There!
How about a sailor outfit for your moggy? Complete with perfect tie-on hat and sailor bib. (Would go perfectly with a cat ship gift: see above.) There are also reindeer antlers, glitzy head-sets, and novelty bow-ties for cats (and, erm, dogs) who love to dress up!

4. Friends with Benefits
Yes, you can now buy a fake cat to keep your cat company while you’re away from home. A furry marmalade cat that purrs and seems almost real. (This would totally freak my cats out, but it might be nice if you live in a flat or are allergic, and can’t have live pets.)

5. Squeakers
We’ve all bought fake mice for our cats. The ones with catnip or long string tails work best. We usually end up having to wiggle or dangle them for hours just to get the cat interested though. Now you can buy a remote controlled mouse! Just sit back on the sofa, and destroy your cat’s peace of mind from a safe distance …

DOGS

6. Play Tents and Tipis
Is your dog feeling left out because the moggies have a fun play platform? Don’t worry, there are now play tents to fit most sizes of dog. Kit yours out with some cushions and a chewy bone, and I guarantee it will last all of five minutes …

7. Keep Them Cosy
Never fear as winter draws in. You can now buy electric heated fleece beds for both dogs and cats, so they can recover from that muddy walk in comfort.

8. Squeaky Santa
You can buy every conceivable type of festive dog toy or chew these days, it seems. Not only bow-decorated bones and such, but I even found reindeer-shaped cookie-style chews. Perfect for keeping Rover quiet while Christmas Lunch is underway. For dogs that love noisy toys, try a chewable squeaking Santa or pair of giant red lips!

9. Super-Dog
You can buy a wide range of cushion covers, body-warmers and other doggy (or catty) gifts personalised with a photo of your pet and his/her name. These are always great fun. But for a really special touch, turn your pooch into a super-hero with a Captain America collar. Oh yes. And I expect you could probably find or make a dog cape to go with it.

10. Forever Blowing Bubbles
Last but not least, bubble-makers for dogs. No kidding. A long-lasting bubble-maker specially designed for pampered pooches who find those little glimmering soap bubbles totally irresistible …

Thank you so much for that great set of gift ideas for cats and dogs. I never knew you could get bubble makers for dogs, however not so sure about dressing a cat up in a sailor's outfit!
