Rachel Reads Randomly - Vote #28

Thank you everyone for your input last time. The results of the last vote were:

0 Votes - Local Girls by Caroline Zancan
2 Votes - If You Were Me by Sheila O'Flanagan
4 Votes -  The Waiting Game by Jessica Thompson
5 Votes - All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker
10 Votes - Walking Back to Happiness by Lucy Dillon

This was a popular vote and due to late run of votes for Wendy Walker I was starting to wonder if that would overtake the early leader of Lucy Dillon. I really enjoyed Walking Back to Happiness so thank you to the 10 people that voted for it.

This week I am restricting the selection to my paperbacks again, as I may be for a few weeks, purely because the amount I have are starting to scare me, and I just don't seem to find the motivation to read them, unless you all tell me to!

Below is my initial theory for this feature, and then a bit further, what you are all waiting for... This weeks's vote! Enjoy!

I am also awful at deciding what book to read next, as I often have about 10 titles or authors jumping into my brain at any time, shouting at me to read them, and I tend to worry I have made the wrong decision while reading a perfectly good book. I am hoping this will save me having to make at least 1 choice a week, while possibly providing a review to the site of a book you all either love or are curious about yourselves.

So what I am proposing, is my lovely loyal readers of Rachel's Random Reads, select one book for me to read a week, and I will post the review the following week.

This weeks random numbers are...

And the books these numbers correspond to are...

So the 5 choices with my gut feeling responses are:

4 - A Time For Friends by Patricia Scanlan -  I generally enjoy Patricia Scanlan books, so hope this new one will be just as good
49 - Somebody to Love by Sheryl Browne - I only read Sheryl's new re-release of one of her books yesterday, so very happy to see another of her back catalogue come up on this feature!
61 - The Chic Boutique on Baker Street by Rachel Dove - Rachel Dove was my first contestant on Truth or Lie, but yet I haven't read her book yet. Really does look and sound enjoyable.
66 - The Italian's Deal for I Do (Mills & Boon Modern) (Society Weddings - Book 1) by Jennifer Hayward - My guess is I either won this from Goodreads or it came in a goodybag from an event. Either way should be a quick read for me!
83 - Two Turtle Doves by Alex Monroe - This is memoir of a jewellery maker if I recall anything from when I entered a competition to win this.

To my eyes there are 3 potential winners this week, however I would love to be surprised. I think this could be a strong and very interesting vote this week. I look forward to seeing all your comments.

Please note Rachel Reads Randomly will be back on 6th June with this result and the next vote. I have Greek Week next week so can't fit this in.

Pick your favourite or the one you most want me to review, or just the one you are curious about, and leave me a comment below, before midnight on Wednesday.

I look forward to seeing what I will be reading over the weekend, courtesy of you all.

The explanation if you haven't seen the feature before.

How is this going to work?

Every Monday, I am going to have a post like this, which is going to have some choices on it. I am planning on using random.org to select 7 random numbers, to coincide with my spreadsheet of unread books.

I will from that produce a list of hopefully 5 books, I reserve the right to veto any books, and will give reasons for them, if it occurs.

I will take screenshots and post them, of the chosen books, and also give you my instinctive reactions to the choices (without checking blurbs or any other info about them, which could be interesting as there are probably many forgotten about books on my spreadsheet!).

Your task is to post a comment on this post, with the book you would like me to read this week. At midnight on Wednesday I will take a tally of the votes and the book with the most, I will read and review for the following Monday, where you will also get a new choice post.

In the event of a tie, I will chose which one appeals most, for the Monday review, and possibly try and read and review the other to appear when I can.

I am hoping this will provide some variety to the books appearing, and will let me potentially read or discover some great authors that I have wanted to read but not got around to yet.

  6. I'm not here. ; Shhhhh. I love you guys. Suze, thank you! I could learn to like being awesome! Now, I know I should be shouting and voting for my own book, BUT ... as as a second vote (😊), I've read some pretty fab reviews about The Chic Boutique on Baker Street. I didn't say that though, obviously. Good luck all. Rachel, thank you SO much for reading my latest and your stunning review yesterday! It was a lovely surprise and so hugely appreciated! xx

  9. I read Patricia Scanlan A time for friends earlier In the year on my kindle- it was a beautiful book, one of the best I've read this year. Deals with friendships, bullying, sexual abuse and A whole lot more. If you adore this lady you will not be disappointed in reading this book Rachel.
