Welcome to the charming seaside town of White Cliff Bay, where Christmas is magical and love is in the air…

Penny Meadows loves her home – a cosy cottage decorated with pretty twinkling fairy lights and stunning views over the town of White Cliff Bay. She also loves her job as an ice-carver, creating breathtaking sculptures. Yet her personal life seems frozen.

When Henry and daughter Daisy arrive at the cottage to rent the annex, Penny is determined to make them feel welcome. But while Daisy is friendly, Henry seems guarded.

As Penny gets to know Henry, she realises there is more to him than meets the eye. And the connection between them is too strong to ignore…

While the spirit of the season sprinkles its magic over the seaside town and preparations for the ice sculpting competition and Christmas eve ball are in full swing, can Penny melt the ice and allow love in her heart? And will this finally be the perfect Christmas she’s been dreaming of?

Holly Martin has done it again, she has written the most incredibly romantic and immensely Christmassy book, set in the fantastic location of White Cliff Bay.

Penny is an ice-carver, who has decided to rent out the annex to Lilac Cottage. Henry and his 16 year old daughter Daisy are the lucky new tennants, and it doesn't take long for Henry and Penny to realise they are attracted to each other, in fact Daisy realises this too.

Daisy also soon becomes friends with Penny, and expresses and interest and some promising talent at ice-carving herself. Daisy also has her eyes on a young man, which may not go down as well with her father.

Henry and Daisy have a very close bond, and it is very touching to discover the reasons they were so close, and just why Henry is a single father.

Penny also has had some heart-ache in her past, and to start with the pair agree to be just friends.

White Cliff Bay is a seaside town that is picturesque and the perfect setting for a Christmas book. I could just imagine it all white and covered in snow, like a picture postcard.

I loved all the descriptions of Penny's ice-carving. I have never come across it as a profession in a book before, and its clear there must have been a lot of research. The ice-carving competition was just hilarious and there is a good amount of humour throughout the book.

I found that Henry reminded me a lot of  Harry in One Hundred Proposals (also by Holly Martin), in terms of his romantic gestures. I loved Harry and Henry has come very close to him in my affections.

I'm really looking forward to being able to return to White Cliff Bay in Holly's other Christmas release this year, Snowflakes at Silver Cove,. There are so many good things about this book, and it has really set me up for enjoying the upcoming festive season.

Christmas at Lilac Cottage is full of festive good cheer, a mini Christmas miracle, a great sense of humour, a good amount of romance, and some lovely memorable characters.

Thanks so much to Bookoutre and Netgalley for this review copy. This is my honest opinion.

Thank you so much to Holly, for inviting me to be part of her blog tour, for Christmas at Lilac Cottage. If you want to know my thoughts about Snowflakes at Silver Cove, then please come back on 9th November, for my date on the next blog tour.
