Rachel Reads Randomly - Vote #59

Thank you everyone for your input last time. The results of the last vote were:

2 (2) Votes - Playing by the Rules by Rosa Temple
8 (8)  Votes -  Prime Justice by Mel Comley
9 (9) Votes - Rosie's Little Cafe on the Riviera by Jennifer Bohnet
16 (10) Votes -   Sins of the Father by Sheryl Browne
38 (19) Votes - Mystery at Maplemead Castle by Kitty French

Wow wow wow, what a wonderful week last week was. Easily the most interactive vote I've had so far, and I can only thank every last one of you from the bottom of my heart.

There was a group of Kim Nash, Holly Martin, Sheryl Browne and Kitty French that were going to all sorts of lengths to get their chosen books to win, and as a result the numbers in brackets are the vote counts without all their fun and games!   Equally because Kitty French and Sheryl Browne both were so determined I read their books and the reviews went live last week.

Sorry for the unscheduled gap last week but I was suffering with a migraine and couldn't quite face creating this post, or potentially having to read an extra long book while not feeling myself. I feel almost human this week so willing to bring this back as I enjoy it.

We are this week randomising from books by authors that I have never read. You know how you browse Amazon or bookshop shelves and something catches your eye, you buy it and then perhaps as your tried and trusted authors have books you want to read you pick them, and just don't get around to the other authors! Well let's see what these new to me authors have to offer!

Below is my initial theory for this feature, and then a bit further, what you are all waiting for... This weeks's vote! Enjoy!

I am also awful at deciding what book to read next, as I often have about 10 titles or authors jumping into my brain at any time, shouting at me to read them, and I tend to worry I have made the wrong decision while reading a perfectly good book. I am hoping this will save me having to make at least 1 choice a week, while possibly providing a review to the site of a book you all either love or are curious about yourselves.

So what I am proposing, is my lovely loyal readers of Rachel's Random Reads, select one book for me to read a week, and I will post the review the following week.

This week's random numbers are...

And the books these numbers correspond to are...

So the 5 choices with my gut feeling responses are:

67 - Now That I've Found You by Ciara Geraghty - This one I'm sure came up in a vote relatively recently and apparently wants me to read it as its back. Gut feeling says this could be emotional.
178 - April's Busman Holiday (Maxwell Mysteries Book 1) by Kerry Frith - Believe this is a cozy mystery but think I bought it so long ago I can't recall much else
182 - Clara Andrews Books 1 and 2 Box Set by Lacey London - These are the first two books in the Clara Andrews series and everything I've seen on twitter about them, makes me think this is a series I would greatly enjoy reading.
212 - Cabin Fever: The sizzling secrets of a Virgin air hostess by Mandy Smith - I love learning about different professions, I love travel and a book written by a former air hostess really appeals to me!
215 - A Love Like This by Maria Duffy - My honest gut feeling response and it may be wrong is that this is an Irish author that I know nothing about, and the book would be a complete surprise to me if it won!

I'm really happy with this weeks selection, It is a potential challenge for me as I've never read any of these authors before, but equally I am pretty positive I'll be cheering whatever the outcome as you all have wonderful taste.

Pick your favourite or the one you most want me to review, or just the one you are curious about, and leave me a comment below, before midnight on Wednesday.

I look forward to seeing what I will be reading over the weekend, courtesy of you all.

The explanation if you haven't seen the feature before.

How is this going to work?

Every Monday, I am going to have a post like this, which is going to have some choices on it. I am planning on using random.org to select 7 random numbers, to coincide with my spreadsheet of unread books.

I will from that produce a list of hopefully 5 books, I reserve the right to veto any books, and will give reasons for them, if it occurs.

I will take screenshots and post them, of the chosen books, and also give you my instinctive reactions to the choices (without checking blurbs or any other info about them, which could be interesting as there are probably many forgotten about books on my spreadsheet!).

Your task is to post a comment on this post, with the book you would like me to read this week. At midnight on Wednesday I will take a tally of the votes and the book with the most, I will read and review for the following Monday, where you will also get a new choice post.

In the event of a tie, I will chose which one appeals most, for the Monday review, and possibly try and read and review the other to appear when I can.

I am hoping this will provide some variety to the books appearing, and will let me potentially read or discover some great authors that I have wanted to read but not got around to yet.

Cabin Fever sounds gloriously tacky (in a lovely, sleazy 70s way) so I'll vote for that! :)

  7. I've enjoyed all the Ciara Geraghty books I've read in the past but can't remember reading this particular title Rachel, so I vote for Ciara's book.
