Christmas is a time for pampering yourself.

At least, that is what Holly Nightingale thinks.

A hard-working nurse, she has given herself an early Christmas gift - three days at Willows, a posh health farm in Surrey.

She's looking forward to day after day of skin treatments, dips in the hot tub, and relaxing sessions with the handsome masseurs.

But not everything is perfect.

Her fiancĂ© Clive is working in Hong Kong.

But why does he spend so much time in the Far East? What is he up to?

As Holly sits by the spa with the pampered, unfaithful wives of the Home Counties, she starts to wonder what kind of married life she is about to embark on.

And maybe Clive will end up spending Christmas without Holly?

This book was originally published as The Spa Day, which frankly I think is a far more apt title. Just because this story is set  about a week before Christmas, and there is talk of Holly's plans for Christmas Day,  doesn't mean its a Christmas book in my eyes at least.

Holly is spending 3 days a a health farm, where she meets a woman, who thinks she is an older version of what Holly will become.

Holly has the time in the health farm, to really think about her relationship with Clive, and comes to conclusions she wouldn't have necessarily have expected.

The main sections of this story, are the series of three bamboo massage treatments, and her chats with massuer James.

I enjoyed this short story of a trip to a spa facility, it was a pleasant short to read, and I have a feeling the next time I am near a spa facility, I may be trying a bamboo massage for myself, as they sound more relaxing than I thought they are.
