Book Review - Love by Emme Cross - Back Catalogue Books

Back Catalogue Books is my new regular Saturday feature, focusing on books that are not the latest releases. There is going to be a mix of Q&As and also reviews, depending on what I have the space for.

If you are an author wanting to take part in Back Catalogue Books then please do email on gilbster at gmail dot com and I'll whizz the questions over to you.

I hope everyone enjoys this weekly look back at some of the slightly older books that are about but still great, and that I eventually make a dent in my TBRs as a result of it!

I've picked this as I promised a review for the book, and it's the first of an 8 book series, so definitely part of the authors back catalogue.

Everyone says he's wrong for her, but she doesn't care
Sunny O’Hara young, pretty, and terribly innocent returns to her childhood home of St. Barts, an idyllic island in the West Indies. She meets Sven Larson, a movie star with a bad reputation for breaking women’s hearts. She falls in love with him and begins a journey of emotional and physical discovery. But has Sven really changed? Can a good woman redeem a very bad boy?

This is the first book in the St. Barts Romance series by Emme Cross. Set on the island of St. Barts, eight square miles of gourmet restaurants, designer shops, yachts . . . and secrets.

You’ll love this sexy romance series, with many more books to come, dive in and get the first novel now

Love is the first of an eight book series, featuring the ups and downs of Sunny's relationship with Sven. There is something about knowing there are eight books before you start book one, that meant I could glance at all the blurbs, and can make certain assumptions about their longevity before I even start reading.

Now although this isn't necessarily a bad thing, it has meant I'm happy to just stop at book one and imagine what happens next, and take this by itself as a beautiful novel of one woman's sexual awakening. Sunny has a certain naive charm to her, despite having grown up all over the world, certain aspects of her life are lacking, and to try and fix this she engages mentors.

Sunny picks Sven to be her sexual mentor, as she is widely inexperienced with regards kissing let alone anything more, and the scenes where they start to become intimate were sensitively written but at the same time incredibly arousing.

This is all set to the most marvellous back drop of the Caribbean island of St. Barts, home to the rich and famous, You get a clear feel for the wealth of the island, but in some respects I would have loved to have seen more of the beauty of the location too.

Sunny is a returning native of the island and is an incredibly intelligent young woman, she speaks many languages and seems to be skilled at anything she tries her hand at. Sven is a Norwegian actor, on the island shooting a film, and arguably against his most sensible judgments finds he is drawn to Sunny and after their first kiss, they can't stop thinking about each other.

I really enjoyed the writing, and although I would have loved Love to have had more of a comprehensive conclusion, I can tell its the way it is, to make you want to read the next book, so see the next stage of what happens.

I really enjoyed reading Love, and hope to find time at some point to read more of the series, or perhaps to see what else Emme Cross writes, as she definitely can write sexy scenes and enjoyable characters.

Thank you to the author for this copy of the book which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
